Before digging into the design process, I needed to learn more about the industry and the competitors of trivago.

At this point it’s worth pointing out that Trivago is an aggregator for the hotel industry, which means that while websites like Booking.com or Hotels.com are competitors, Trivago doesn’t actually handle reservations, it trawls both online travel agencies and hotel sites to return a compendium of results, then send the user to his or her choice for booking.

I have worked on several sales-related solutions, ranging in purpose from product presentations and ordering tools to showroom management applications. Here are some of the things I learned while working on these projects.

First, a little background… LensOnline was founded in 2004 in Belgium. It is a company that sells lenses online and through a network of over 100 partner-opticians across the country.
